Jeb Burton of Halifax, his battered car displaying multiple strands of duct tape, finished third. He was among the 12 drivers among the 26 starters that were running at the end of the race.

“I was like a ping-pong ball,” Burton said.

“They just kept on hitting me and people were coming down on me. It was crazy out there. I don’t know what some of those drivers out there think. My car is totaled. The truck arm is bent and the rear end is sideways. I’m going to have to work for two weeks just to get back to the racetrack. People just didn’t use their heads.”
